I grew up with the blessing of a daddy who always planted, tended to and harvested a bountiful garden. He toiled in the sowing to provide veggies for us during the summer and my mama dedicated hours to preparing and canning. I cannot say enough about how much my mama and daddy did to teach my brother and I to eat from the ground and relish the consumption of fresh food. To this day I have a deep love for veggies! That’s how I developed My Salad Habit!
Salads are a part of my diet most everyday. They are quick and easy. Any ingredients can be combined to make a tasty, healthy collage of fresh food. If you are concerned about the amount of time it takes to prepare a salad, choose a day to spend 30 minutes to wash, slice and dice your ingredients, see my Prep Day post. When preparing these ingredients my go-to tools include RADA Cutlery. The Cook’s Knife, Cook’s Utility, Tomato Slicer and Vegetable Peeler are my favs. Prepared ingredients can then easily be assembled for a meal at home or portioned to take out. A small investment of time can result in heathier eating habits. I encourage you to find some time for yourself and spend it to give yourself the gift of prepared, ready to eat fresh food! These are great make and take containers from Amazon: Eco Friendly Take Out Boxes and 4 oz. Dressing Cups.
I was going to create an actual recipe to include in this post, however over time I have created so many kinds of salads that I decided to write this post and then post the recipes separately of specific preparations and styles. Keep an eye out for recipes on all the various salad preparations that I create and enjoy! Below are links to a few salad recipes. As I add new ones, I will also update the links below in this post. I hope that you will explore all the ways that you can enjoy salad too! Give yourself credit for trying new things and daring to try something new!
If you prepare any of my recipes, please let me know what you think!! Tell me your favorite salad recipe or ways that you like to prepare your greens!
